  1. Great find @awaixjvd. Now you just need to figure out how you enabled it. A good find. -Steve
  2. Have you tried to just update the monitor resolution? https://www.groovypost.com/howto/change-windows-10-screen-monitor-resolution/ ? Should be a simple fix...
  3. Um... Right... So my guess -- Google Drive was doing something screwy with your file system and just needed time to catch up from the sync... Glad it's all working again. (unless it's still having issues with other files...).
  4. You should at least be getting new Defender updates. Goto: Settings > Update & Security > Update History. What're the latest updates you've had? That said, my last update from MS was the Sept. 2017 Cumulative Update 1703 (KB4040724), excluding the defender updates which won't show up in the Update history. Do you have this update?
  5. Recently I got a new Docking Station from Dell (Thunderbolt Dock TB16) to use with my Razer Blade 14 Laptop. Up until now, I had just one monitor, so I didn't need a docking station. That is until I got a 2nd monitor. Razer, as you know, is far from being a "standard" laptop. However, its Thunderbolt port follows all the standards (assumption), so my hope was the Dell TB16 would just work. And it did... for Video and Network. USB, however, was dead on the Docking station. None of my USB devices would work when plugging into the TB16 - Webcam, USB Mouse, Headset, etc.. Plugging directly into my laptop, however, everything worked just great. Scanning the internet, it appears this is a fairly common issue with the TB16 Docking Station. Fortunately for me, I was able to fix the problem very quickly by grabbing a single driver, off of the Dell support site. http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/product/dell-thunderbolt-dock-tb16/drivers?os=wt64a The update you want to grab is the September 12th, 2017 (or later) ASMedia USB Extended Host Controller Driver. Here's the description of the download from its details page: Once I installed the ASMedia Controller, poof - All USB ports on my dock were working flawlessly! I also noticed the following app in the Icon Tray also after the install. And here it is listed as installed on my Windows 10 settings under Apps & Features. To be clear, your mileage may vary on this fix. I'm going to guess however that if it worked on my edge-case Razer, it will probably work on your system also. Article Update: I got a great question below from Randy in the comments. His question was "What how were my monitors connected to my Docking station?" So - here's my setup: Great question Randy. My setup looks like this: TB16 Docking Station - Mini Display Port OUT to Monitor 1 DisplayPort IN - Yes, I have a Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable. Monitor 1 - DisplayPort OUT to Monitor 2 DisplayPort IN - Yes, my monitors are daisy-changed together. My setup works just great since I have monitors with DisplayPort In/Out. Not something most Monitors support, however, shouldn't be an issue since the Dell TB16 Dock supports HDMI, DisplayPort, and Mini-DisplayPort.
  6. No not I. I don't really mess with themes on Windows tho...
  7. Hi @Reuben1958 - How do you know you have an E and F drive if you can't see them? Where did you look and what do you see?
  8. You still having this issue? Odd Grey Highlight over all the text?
  9. Run the command EVENTVWR and check your SYSTEM log. I'm worried you might have a drive issue and the files are getting corrupted. Keep us updated.
  10. Hi @Jrcaruso - Welcome to the forum. All you need to do is take ownership of the files. This will give you access to them again. It's not a big deal. Here's a tutorial on how to do it. - https://www.groovypost.com/howto/microsoft/take-ownership-of-windows-7-files-folders/
  11. Best thing... Just create a new user called Bill then delete the old account. Easier than trying to rename at the file level.
  12. Looks like a game or something you grabbed. It's a Python script file. One thing you can try is going to your Google Drive via Web Browser (Goto Gmail, App Changer to Drive) and delete the entire folder Tree. It looks like it's in your Programming\python folder. If you didn't create that folder tree, blow it all away. If you delete it via your browser, it should also sync and delete from your PC also. Otherwise, you will need to take ownership of the file/folder to get access to nuke it. Either way - yeah, suspicious.
  13. That is really odd. I would turn on Narration and off again and also look in accessibility options and see if something is enabled in there. Let me know what you find. that's a really odd one. Also - do you have a Touch monitor/screen? -S
  14. Have you tried to re-flash the BIOS bill? That's where I would start. Either check for a new update or go back a version and see what ya get.
  15. I used to run Norton back in the day also but now days, I mainly just use Windows Defender + MalwareBytes. So far so good.
  16. Hi HC, For me, the easiest thing to do is go download VLC Player. It's the best MP4 viewer out there - and it's free. https://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html So, not a fix exactly but should get you up and running.
  17. Hi @Sumin, welcome to the site. When it first starts up, does anything come up on the screen? Dell / Lenovo logo etc... or is it black the entire time?
  18. @Bastet That's good to know. I've been a long-time user of the free versions of Malwarebytes but never the paid. Do you use anything in addition to MB?
  19. Awesome tip! Thanks for reporting back the issue @Robwin . Great info for our users!
  20. Hi @kai - welcome to the site! Well, bad news is by the sounds of what you described above, sounds like you have a bad hard drive. If you're able to get it to boot again, launch EVENTVWR and check the System Log. I bet you will see a lot of errors about the Drive failing. Not a lot you can do from here other than getting another drive and swapping them out. Do you have a backup?
  21. Not old at all. Just a baby... however, probably just old enough to not be covered by a warranty. Since you get some power from it and it works "sometimes", it's probably not the OS, Hard Drive, Screen. Could still be a Power Supply or Memory that's failing. Sorry... Keep us updated here if you are able to find root cause.
  22. Scratching my head. I assume it would work in Chrome and Firefox? To update Windows 10 (1607) Start menu > Settings > Update and Security > Check for Updates Not holding my breath but worth a shot.
