  1. Recently I got a new Docking Station from Dell (Thunderbolt Dock TB16) to use with my Razer Blade 14 Laptop. Up until now, I had just one monitor, so I didn't need a docking station. That is until I got a 2nd monitor. Razer, as you know, is far from being a "standard" laptop. However, its Thunderbolt port follows all the standards (assumption), so my hope was the Dell TB16 would just work. And it did... for Video and Network. USB, however, was dead on the Docking station. None of my USB devices would work when plugging into the TB16 - Webcam, USB Mouse, Headset, etc.. Plugging directly into my laptop, however, everything worked just great. Scanning the internet, it appears this is a fairly common issue with the TB16 Docking Station. Fortunately for me, I was able to fix the problem very quickly by grabbing a single driver, off of the Dell support site. http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/product/dell-thunderbolt-dock-tb16/drivers?os=wt64a The update you want to grab is the September 12th, 2017 (or later) ASMedia USB Extended Host Controller Driver. Here's the description of the download from its details page: Once I installed the ASMedia Controller, poof - All USB ports on my dock were working flawlessly! I also noticed the following app in the Icon Tray also after the install. And here it is listed as installed on my Windows 10 settings under Apps & Features. To be clear, your mileage may vary on this fix. I'm going to guess however that if it worked on my edge-case Razer, it will probably work on your system also. Article Update: I got a great question below from Randy in the comments. His question was "What how were my monitors connected to my Docking station?" So - here's my setup: Great question Randy. My setup looks like this: TB16 Docking Station - Mini Display Port OUT to Monitor 1 DisplayPort IN - Yes, I have a Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable. Monitor 1 - DisplayPort OUT to Monitor 2 DisplayPort IN - Yes, my monitors are daisy-changed together. My setup works just great since I have monitors with DisplayPort In/Out. Not something most Monitors support, however, shouldn't be an issue since the Dell TB16 Dock supports HDMI, DisplayPort, and Mini-DisplayPort.
  2. I don't know what happened, but after a few days of random problems, I was online, when suddenly my pc just restarted for unknown reason. Except it did not actually restart, it just showed an error. I tried to research the code number on another computer but it came back unknown. "Luckily", I still have an install USB so I grabbed it and tried to repair the boot. When that failed saying "unable to complete repair", I tried to reinstall over existing install. That said "Unable to install to partition" it is a 180 Gig partition. After a couple tries I just deleted the partition, all it would let me do. But then "unable to create partition". No reason why just can't do it. So I'm stuck here, unable to do anything. How do I get past this point? How do I convince it that 20G of data will fit into a 180G space? Thanks Dell Inspiron 3793 laptop w10 no version yet.
  3. Hello, earlier today I was doing homework on my Dell Inspiron 13 7000 Windows 10 laptop and I got the little pop up that says battery is low. I ignored it like I usually did and then it said battery very low. This is usually where I get up and plug in the charger but sometimes I keep doing what im doing and then it dies and I realize I forgot to go get the charger. Thats what happened here. I left my computer open and went to get my charger. I plugged it up and waited a couple of minutes because it usually turns on by itself. I pressed the power button a couple of times after that and it still didn't turn on. I closed the computer opened it and pressed the power button and it didn't come on. I repeated this multiple times occasionally holding down the power button but nothings working. The little white light is still illuminating on the corner of the computer that signifies your computer is charging yet its not turning on. Any solutions/suggestions? Thank You!
  4. Below are direct links to vendor support pages where you can check the make and model of your computer to find out if it is compatible with the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update or earlier versions. If its not, don’t force it, stick with your current version, contact the vendor by telephone or support forum to find out about support. The list will be updated as soon as other OEMs update their support pages. Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (1709) Toshiba Panasonic Hewlett Packard (HP)/Compaq Dell Inc Lenovo Samsung If there are no plans to support the a Feature Update, your options includes: sticking with the current version of Windows 10 or backup then attempt a clean install. Some users have reported a clean install works sometimes, even though the manufacturer does not support it; or you can downgrade to the original version you were running such as: Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 Update 1. Both Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 with Update will continue to be supported until January 2020 and January 2023 respectively. Microsoft also noted systems with Intel Clover Trail processors can use and receive updates for Windows 10 1607 until January 2023.
  5. Update: Lenovo, Acer and Samsung List Systems Compatible with the Windows 10 Creators Update OEM vendors such as Dell, HP and Toshiba have published list of systems compatible with the latest revision of Windows 10 called the Creators Update, version 1703. As with every new version of Windows 10 coming to market, some models are likely to no longer be supported by the manufacturer. This can be due to a number of reasons, including end of life, incompatible components or warranty obligations have been exhausted. Even if this is the case, it doesn't necessarily mean you can't install the Windows 10 Creators Update. In fact, users have been able to upgrade or perform a clean install without issue on systems no longer supported by the manufacturer. What I have witnessed in support forums where users experience problems upgrading, the upgrade routine doesn't work at all, but a clean install works just fine. That said, instead of burning your bridges, users should ensure they create a backup of their current installation before attempting to install Windows 10 1703. Below are links to systems supported by each vendor: Dell Inc Hewlett Packard (HP)/Compaq Toshiba Other manufacturers such as Lenovo haven't posted any updates yet, but a search revealed information regarding required updates to chipset driver software in order to use the Windows 10 Creators Update. Users should check the manufacturers website for their particular model periodically to find out about support. As with previous releases, Microsoft will use a staggered approach to rollout the Windows 10 Creators Update over time. Don't be surprised if it takes a few months for the update to show up in Windows Update on your system. High priority systems include those supporting hero features in Windows 10 such as Hello biometric recognition, UEFI firmware and TPM 1.2.
