  1. Hi @hex40 I did a little more research and found that is is a problem for a lot of users! Going to do more research and see if I can find a answer! Here's what I came up with! I don't know if this is some thing new with W10 and updates, but maybe updates are being created differently with W10!

Let me know what you think!

    http://www.tenforums.com/performance-maintenance/19926-no-automatic-restore-points-created.html

Here's insert taken from the above link!

From my understanding Windows 10 will automatically create a System Restore point if there is none earlier than seven days. So if five days past from a point you manually created, and a system update comes in, there will not be an auto created point since it's not longer than seven days. I thought mine wasn't working either when system updates came in as I would manually create one everyday, but I stopped that, and let a week go by, and now the last two updates that came in an auto point was created.

  2. Hi! @hex40 Here's all I know about W10 and restore points! I don't think that restore points are created every time you get window updates.

I have noticed that I don't get as many automatic updates as I did with W7. You may  get more replies from other forum members latter.

Here's a good read by our own @Brian  Attached screen shot of my restore points.

  3. Hi! I use the program, but I'm a little picky  what I let the program update. I don't let it mess with my MBAM Pro.;) but the other updates  are fine. I think it's a good safe program to help you keep your software updated.

Here's insert from the program and  good reason to keep your software up dated. Thanks @Rich-M

Hackers and virus writers love outdated software. It might contain a security vulnerability or “hole” that can provide them with access to your computer. Outdated software can also be buggy, or have performance issues, which is usually fixed with a newer version of the software. These are two of the main reasons why it is important to keep the software on your computer updated (or “patched”).

  4. Hi @Don18055 You may get more replies from other forum members latter! Here's a link from groovypost. I'm thinking you may have to contact Microsoft and hope you get someone there that knows what they are doing. I'm not sure how do go about this now that the free offer has expired!

  5. Never ran W8.1, but from all that I have heard, I agree that W10 is the best of W7 and W8.

I'm thinking that W10 will even get better in the future; and I'm anxiously  waiting the  anniversary addition next month! Hoping there aren't to many problems for W10 users and hoping the update goes smoothy.;) Fingers crossed! I'm not a long time reader of groovypost, but I have become a big fan of groovypost lately and I invite you to join me.

For what it's worth @Mandy.... if you are still having problems after the 29th, I'll put money on it that Microsoft support will let ya upgrade for free. I have nothing in print to tell me that however, if you point to this forum post, no intelligent human would say - Sorry, deadline is over!

Let's hope that MS will extend the dead line @ShockerSH but I have not seen any evidence that's going to happen. Not sure that a human is involved in this upgrade. I hope MS extends the free upgrade, but I wouldn't put any money on it!;)

PS I'm hoping that this forum grows also @ShockerSH;)

  7. Hi! I'm not one for beating a dead horse into the ground, but here in my reliability monitor are 4 reasons; IMHO, to down load windows up dates.;) Could I live without them? Probably, but what will the next windows updates be about.  The Reliability Monitor is one of the least know trouble shooters in Windows. Get over it PC W10 users. Windows updates are a good thing. Unless and until you can prove to me that windows updates are bad, don't preach to me not to down load windows updates.:D

PS You can check how your PC is performing by typing "Reliability History" in your search bar!

  8. Hi @Profiler Good suggestion about AV. Do not worry about posting that link with crapware. Your PC knowledge is well know in the computer world. We are not perfect, and all we can do is to give it the very best we know how and hope we make a difference!;)

I'm hoping that @Mandy  has been able to upgrade to W10. Hoping they will post soon with good results and a successful upgrade!

Thanks @Profiler You are appreciated mate!

  9. Great post @ralph blake  I'm really happy to hear about  your success with W10. I also agree with you that W10 is the best OS that MS has engineered. I feel like it will only get better. I'm waiting for the anniversary upgrade next month. Here's how I advise PC users to handle these upgrades. Learn how to use a 3rd party back up program, and always create a image of your operating system before ever making major changes to your PC. That way you can always roll back if your not happy or have problems.

PS Once you have the entitled W10, you can do as many clean installs as you want. If you're having major problems you can't fix; you save your data and perform a clean install. W10 has many ways of dealing with problems. I like W10 a lot;)

Welcome to the forum and thank you for your great post!

  10. Hi There!  IMHO the windows updates are very important and I never recommend that they be turned off. When seniors here in my retirement village ask me if they should install windows up dates, I tell them yes, and then I tell them what they are, and how updates help them protect their PC. Some seniors tell me their children have told them not to install the updates. That's old school IMHO.

If you choose not to install windows up dates, that's your choice. I see no good reason not to install them. MS has decided that W10 Home will not give you the option to turn off the updates. I guess MS thinks they are important. @Profiler is a very experienced PC user and he can get away with not up installing the up dates. He also said he didn't recommend turning updates off. @Steve never said he didn't install w10 updates. @Steve only said he didn't pay much attention to them! The forum has many guests and members that read these posts and IMHO, turning off windows updates is not a good idea. I guess we can agree to disagree on this and I think we have done that!

  12. Here's my thoughts and everyone here has a right to post their thoughts on this forum

Recommending that W10 users not install window updates is not very good advise IMHO. There are very good reasons that MS puts these updates out on patch Tuesday. I agree in the past; that there were some problems, and Updates have caused problems for PC users, but my advise is to install the updates.

If you have W10 home, you probably don't have a choice anyway.;)
