  1. On my ASUS G73ws computer every time there is a update to windows 10, it makes changes to the AKT 64 driver package, and the keyboard back lighting quits working. It took some looking on line to find the information about reinstalling the AKT 64 driver package, Microsoft has known for a long time of this problem but has not address it or themselves told people how to fix it, it's a simple fix just download the AKT driver Pkg. and restart computer. I am sure other brands of computers have this same loss of keyboard back lighting, if their keyboards support back lighting.
  2. As i said i tried everything before contacting Microsoft, i had reinstalled Win8 from the disks i had bought to replace win7 so i was asked for product key when trying to get Win10 working, lady at Microsoft took control of my computer and after a few trys got a product key to get Win working. Thanks for your reply your the only one so far on this forum to reply, i really got a lot of replies on the www.10forums.com many tried and one poster really got on my nerves just told me i was wrong and did not need Microsoft to get product key.
  3. I had a ASUS computer that after every Microsoft 10 update it took many reboots to get working again, last update it just could not be brought to life. I used the recovery disks that wipe the HD and it returned the computer to the command line on screen and asks for system boot disk, this tells me i need a copy of win 10 to reinstall the OS on computer as Win had been downloaded on the ASUS that had Win8. I guess this means i have to buy a copy of Win10 am i correct? I had another smaller ASUS that i needed to use the recovery disks on and it reverted to Win7 i am guessing the old Win7 OS had been stored when Win10 installed, i am thinking i had removed the old OS on my ASUS computer that is now needing an OS to be installed.

  5. My todays Win update 08/13/2016

Strange one took a lot of time longer then it ever took before, but two others went quickly. You might have something there with the servers, they might have been many servers updating systems. Looks like all four computers are working well this morning,so i do feel Microsoft is really trying to make Win10 a great O.S. There is one small detail with on computer i have to log out and log back in to be able to reach the power and file also other places on screen, after logging out and back in using the Crl/Alt?Delete keys things are working right.
  6. My todays Win update 08/13/2016

My update today really took a long time on one computer, two others it went quickly. On one system i had to sign out and back in to get the bottom bar to respond, could not even shutdown normal had to pull power cord and remove battery to shutdown. After the signing out and back in all is working again. Other two systems had no problems.
  7. Your Thoughts On Privacy

You have more to fear today with the people working in doctors and dental offices, they have people paying them for your private information, or they just put your old files in the dumpster and dumpster divers dig them out.
  8. Your Thoughts On Privacy

Very true there is no real way to be really 100% safe today.
  9. Your Thoughts On Privacy

Myself over the years since the first Windows, i have not really worried about Microsoft. But if someone is using Facebook or any of the many social media sites, under their real names i would be really careful what information i posted and what family pictures i posted.

  11. I understand they still work as mine are not new, but if my friend has to buy the Win10 he might be money ahead with a new and better computer.
  12. Being one of the still living humans who were the first to have a Windows OP System, on their computer, i bought my Gateway 486 with the first Windows. Can't tell you how many of my friends at work told me,"you are making a BIG mistake" better stick with the tried and true DOS. Sadly they sure were right. i had so many problems with that first Windows. But over a Loooong time and many other Windows, some good some not so good and a few really BAD, things started improving. They had to just about had to force XP off my computers, but Win7 worked then 8 and it's upgrade now Win10. Been a long trip but it looks like we now have a good Windows. For many it might be better to just buy a new computer with Win10, i was talking to a guy who still was using Vista, said he never got asked to upgrade to Win10. Told him only Win7 up got a notice for a free upgrade, his system must be over five years old, so getting a new computer might be his best choice.

  14. I waited with one computer running win7, as i watched my three other systems with windows 10, and really wanted to be sure i had one older system to fall back on if the others failed to stay working. I admit the first few Months with Win10 were anything but great, many problem with my installed programs, but after a bunch windows 10 upgrades, things started to work much better. My last Win7 system an older HP was a tough upgrade, as i kept getting a failed to install message, i think i retried about 15 times over the Month, kept seeing that time running out before July 29 message. Last night when i fired up the old HP, i saw a black screen and a string of letters then something in regards to the register, then i again saw a normal screen and again it asking me if i wished to install Win10. I clicked yes and it began to download Win10, about an hour later it started installing win10. another hour and Win10 was installed and running. Today i started testing my new Win10 HP computer and am happy to say all so far is good. So i now feel Win10 is the best Windows that Microsoft has Engineered, and i feel it will be around a long time.
  15. I just heard on the news that many others are being upgraded, from Win7 to Win10 without people asking for the upgrade. Just like what happened to me. So it's not just a random item Microsoft is pushing it on many Win7 holdouts. Myself i am not unhappy as i really feel today Win10, has been fixed from the many early problems and as the newest Win. System it should be used.
