  19. When you upgraded from a previous version of Windows or receive a new computer preinstalled with Windows 10, what happened is the hardware (your PC) will get a digital entitlement, where a unique signature of the computer will be stored on Microsoft Activation Servers. The Windows 7 or Windows 8 genuine license you were previously running will be exchanged for a diagnostics key. Anytime you need to reinstall Windows 10 on that machine, just proceed to reinstall Windows 10. It will automatically reactivate. You will prompted to enter a product key a couple times through the installation, click I don't have a key and Do this later. There is no need to know or get a new key, but if you have issues with Digital Licensing or the Activation Troubleshooter, you can utilize an existing Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1 product key you already own to reactivate if necessary. or use the reset function in Windows 10. All you need to do is download and perform a clean install of Windows 10. Step 1: See instructions how to download, create a bootable copy, then perform a clean install: Windows 10 Creators Update Version 1703 ISO Files Now Available for Download Step 2: How to Perform a Clean Install of Windows 10 - groovyPost
  20. Another week, another build, but this one is exciting due to the inclusion of the My People app. My People was originally planned for the Windows 10 Creators Update, but didn't make it in time. Windows Insiders will be the first to try out the new feature, which centralizes contacts and communications to the Notification Area of the Taskbar. Users will be able prioritize their contacts, easily share content and start conversations using apps and services such as Mail, Skype and People. Insiders can also expect the usual collection of bug fixes and feature improvements. Windows 10 Mobile - which is on life support - also got an update to build 15208 in the fast ring.
  21. Microsoft released a new cumulative update for Windows 10 Creators Update, 15063.250. 22. Microsoft revealed today it is changing the release schedule for its desktop operating system and productivity suite, along with with its system management software. Instead of a when its ready approach, Microsoft will release new versions of Windows 10 and Office 365 in March and September each year. The Windows 10 Creators Update released last month is the first to be part of the new schedule. Redstone 3, currently in development, will be released in September 2017. The schedule is slightly similar to Canonicals Ubuntu Linux, which are released twice per year, April and October. The schedule promises to make it easier for businesses to embrace the release cadence and provide a predictable and manageable path to new upgrades. Here are more details. Windows is committing to a predictable twice-per-year feature release schedule, targeting September and March of each year, aligning with Office 365 ProPlus. The next Windows 10 feature update will be targeted for September 2017. Each Windows 10 feature release will be serviced and supported for 18 months. This is consistent with our current Windows 10 approach, but adds further clarity and predictability to organizations by aligning with Office 365 ProPlus. In addition, System Center Configuration Manager will support this new aligned update model for Office 365 ProPlus and Windows 10, making both easier to deploy and keep up to date. Source The release primarily is geared towards Microsoft's enterprise customers, but it will also apply to regular consumers and small business users. I appreciate the clarity on support for each feature release, now defined as 18 months.
  23. If you recently upgraded to the Windows 10 Creators Update, and you are experiencing graphical glitches such as: missing icon labels, corrupted icons or text; this is likely due to compatibility problems associated with a series of Intel Atom processors and the Comodo Antivirus utility. Prior to launch, Microsoft Support had published an advisory letting users know of a compatibility issue with Intel's Clovertrail series of Atom processors. A couple days ago, Microsoft updated their post on the Microsoft Community; including Comodo Antivirus as another cause for graphical issues some users have been experiencing. Comodo recently published an advisory informing users to remove or update their Antivirus utility before upgrading to the Windows 10 Creators Update. Version 1703 has not been smooth sailing for everyone. Microsoft also advised Toshiba users were advised to remove the Display utility software; computers with the Broadcom 440x series LAN adapters should also remove the adapter before upgrading. Some apps have also been affected by the Creators Update, Quark Inc, released an update to fix compatibility problems with version 2015 and 2016. Mac users were also advised to first upgrade to the Anniversary Update (1607), before updating to 1703. Before upgrading, users should take the time to backup and check the manufacturers website to find out about support. Check the following links for resources: Lenovo, Acer and Samsung List Systems Compatible with the Windows 10 Creators Update Dell, HP and Toshiba List Systems Compatible with the Windows 10 Creators Update Check this List to Determine if Your Computer is Compatible with the Windows 10 Creators Update or Anniversary Update or Not 12 Things You Should Do Before Installing Windows 10 Creators Update (Version 1703)
  24. Last week, Quark Inc, developers of the popular page layout app, QuarkXpress, advised users to delay their upgrade to Windows 10 Creators Update until a fix was released to resolve compatibility issues. The fix is now available and applies primarily to versions 2015 and 2016 of QuarkXpress running on Windows 10; earlier versions are not affected. If you use QuarkXpress versions 2015 or 2016, leave a comment and let us know if it works. Also remember to backup your registry before applying these changes.
