desktop icons have all disappeared

I have been running win10 for 2 years on Dell laptop. 2 days ago my desktop went blank and all my desktop icons disappeared. My recycle bin has also disappeared

My start menus still works

I can see my desktop in windows file explorer, but can't see it on the desktop screen. I can't see any icon for recycle bin. I read a lot of help advice about personalization of the desktop, but it says nothing about regaining my icons

@aptman1429 You can head to Settings > Personalization > Themes and scroll down and click Deskto Icon Settings and make sure all the system icons you want are checked.

thank you. Problem is solved. All my icons and recycle bin are back.
