resizing OS partition

Recommended Posts

Howdy.

Inherited a computer with a fresh WIndows 10 install (and a few misc. programs) on a 1 TB drive. For better or worse, I like to partition the HD (THE ONE WITH THE OS LOADED ON IT) into at least 2, if not even 3 partitions.

I tried using the Microsoft disk management tool to "Shrink the volume", but all I get is a little spinning blue circle. I also have Minitool Partition Wizard installed which offers similar function, but I just want some...re-assurance, that this is ok and/or advisable to do. It seems that the software would give me some kind of crazy warning like hey, you might be about to wipe your OS, but I don't have a great track record in the OS upgrading/installing department.

Many thanks in advance,

Neal
