Account settings out of date in Mail

For some time now I have not been able to use one of my email accounts in Windows Mail because it says the account settings are out of date and when I try to enter my password 'to verify my identity' to fix the account I am unable to as the password field does not work.  For another email account in Mail this wasn't an issue when the account settings came to be out of date.  The box that came up for verifying my identity looked different and the password entered just fine.  So why is it different with this other account and how can I fix it?

I have had a similar issue with the Mail app using the Redstone preview builds. Is what you're describing similar to this:

You get a msg the account settings are out of date...

Then when you try to fix them, it won't take your PIN or password and this error comes up.

Installing  KB3093266 has fixed this issue for some users.

Its worth trying. You can download and install this update from Microsoft site.
