  1. Hey Bob! I'm liking W10 really well. Don't know what all the anniversary up date contains. Here's a few things! Not sure what you mean about viewing your photos in the order that you want! Here's a groovypost by @Steve about Cortana.

Gary I was forced to use Windows 8.1 on my Sony Laptop as it ran like a turtle in Windows 10 with the Upgrade and same for clean install. That laptop is a Gen4 Intel cpu with 16 Gb ram and an ssd drive so there is no reason it should have been slower than a netbook but I could not solve it so I went back. Has to be some incompatible hardware thart just would not show up.

You might want to give it another try after the anniversary up grade next month. You may be right that it's incompatible! Sounds strange that it would be slow! Computers are weird! LOL

  3. Hey Bob! That's the way my Cortana works also. I have to repeat those 6 things,  then she works for awhile. I'm thinking Cortana has a short memory like me LOL. Then it's back to clicking on the mike every time. I'm hoping when the anniversary up date rolls out next month that will get fixed. I've heard rumors that there is supposed to be big improvements with Cortana. I kind a like Cortana for a dictionary. She spells pretty good. I'm new to the forum. Only been here 3 weeks. I try hard to get a little action going, but that is some times hard to do. Good to hear from you Bob. If I figure some thing out any thing before the anniversary up date, I'll let you know. Did you open my attached zip file above. I like that PSR feature to show people how to do things. I have a how to use the PSR feature in the tips and trick section of this forum! That's for your post!

  4. Hi There! Here's some things you need to know about a In-place- repair-Upgrade!

    • You will only be able to do a repair install of Windows 10 from within Windows 10. You will not be able to do a repair install at boot or in Safe Mode.
    • You will need at least around 8.87 GB + what Windows is currently using of free space available on the Windows drive.
    • The installation media (ex: ISO or USB) must be the same edition and build as your currently installed Windows 10. If it's not, then the repair install will fail.
    • The installation media (ex: ISO or USB) must be the same language as your currently installed Windows 10. If it's not, then you will not keep anything.
    • If you have a 32-bit Windows 10, then you must use a 32-bit ISO or USB.
    • If you have a 64-bit Windows 10, then you must use a 64-bit ISO or USB.
  5. If you're having problems with Windows 10 on your PC, you could use push-button reset to refresh or reset Windows.

Refresh your PC Fixes software problems by reinstalling the OS while preserving the user data, user accounts, and important settings. All other preinstalled customizations are restored to their factory state. In Windows 10, this feature no longer preserves user-acquired Windows apps.

Reset your PC prepares the PC for recycling or for transfer of ownership by reinstalling the OS, removing all user accounts and contents (e.g. data, Classic Windows applications, and Universal Windows apps), and restoring preinstalled customizations to their factory state.

The options above are great for what they are intended for, but you could also do a repair install of Windows 10 by performing an in-place upgrade without losing anything other than all installed Windows Updates.

This tutorial will show you how to do a repair install of Windows 10 by performing an in-place upgrade without losing anything.

You must be signed in as an administrator to be able to do a repair install of Windows 10.

  6.  Hi there! I realize this is a old thread; but if your clicking on it, it wasn't answered.?? Here's some things you might try.

I'm trying to answer some old threads that weren't answered! This was taken from  MS link!

We recommend you to check if the system time is set correctly in BIOS (Basic Input/output System) and check correct the time settings on Windows.
Step 1: Correct the BIOS time and date settings
    a. See question "How do I access my computer's BIOS?"
    b. Correct the time and date
    c. Save the settings and exit from BIOS.

Note: Be careful when changing BIOS settings. The BIOS interface is designed for advanced users, and it's possible to change a setting that could prevent your computer from starting correctly.

Step 2: Set the clock and synchronize your computer clock with an Internet time server
    a. See Set the clock

Note: If your time zone observes daylight saving time and you want your computer's clock to be adjusted automatically when daylight saving time changes, make sure the Automatically adjust clock for Daylight Saving Time check box is selected.

Step 3: If the issue persists, run Microsoft fix it and check the result
    a. See Common system maintenance tasks
    b. Click Run now button and run the tool successfully.
    c. Restart the computer and check if the issue persists.

  7. Hi there! I realize this is a old post, but it was not answered. If you are clicking on this thread, here's what you need to try. Cortana needs to learn your voice. You will have to repeat some things to Cortana while she learns your voice. There may be times when you will have to repeat this procedure. I know I have had to do it several times. I'm thinking this will improve when the anniversary up grade comes out next month.

Here's a PSR Zip file that will show you how to teach Cortana to recolonize your voice!

  8. Hi onenil! Welcome to the forum! You may get more replies from other members latter. This is the best that I could come up with. I would think you could do any thing in W10 that you did with W8. I don't know why anyone would want to rollback to W8(Yuk). When ever I'm doing things like this, I always create a back up image of my OS, so that I restore my OS exactly like it was the day I created the image. IMHO as long as you maintain full administrative rights, you should be able to undue any other profiles that you create!  I say should be able. There doesn't seem to be a 100% on any thing Computer related LOL!

    See if this link helps!

  9. Wow! I'm impressed with your Ping and upload! I've never seen my upload more than 5Mbps. I call my ISP a lot. Not just for me, but for the seniors in my village. I'm not impressed with Sudden Link, but it's the best I can get. You must be on fiber to get those speeds. Sudden link is promising to bring fiber this way, but it won't be any time soon.

Good for you! How much is your bill??

  10. Hey ShockerSH! I'm not into that, but this link says 5 replacements for picasa app on windows!

Though Picasa is a well-known photo organizer and editor, Google has had much more success with its newer photo storage and sharing application, Google Photos. Though the program will continue to work if you currently use it, or download it before it’s shutdown next month, Google will not offer future updates.

  12. Heya! @Steve Your few hours up date are turning into days LMAO. Just kidding my friend. I realize you are very busy, and I'm retired with very little to do.

I just want the forum to grow. The edit time is not that big a deal to worry about. Was just making a comment about the editing posts feature. Giving our guests and members some thing new to read about mostly! ;):P

    No worries!    Gary!

  13. Thanks for up date! Very happy to hear your success! All is well in Oke. Us old guys have to stick together. You might consider running some malware scanners to see if there is any thing going on there.

    Best Wishes    Gary!
