  1. Where on the local drive are you trying to save files when you get this error message?

Does it happen when you try to save to a different location?

Did you try creating a new user account to see if the problem persists?

Click Start > Settings > Accounts > Family & other people > Add someone else to this PC

Check if the problem persists. If it does, then I would recommend you perform a reset.

  2. When you upgraded from a previous version of Windows or receive a new computer preinstalled with Windows 10, what happened is the hardware (your PC) will get a digital entitlement, where a unique signature of the computer will be stored on Microsoft Activation Servers. The Windows 7 or Windows 8 genuine license you were previously running will be exchanged for a diagnostics key.

Anytime you need to reinstall Windows 10 on that machine, just proceed to reinstall Windows 10. It will automatically reactivate. You will prompted to enter a product key a couple times through the installation, click I don't have a key and Do this later.

There is no need to know or get a new key, but if you have issues with Digital Licensing or the Activation Troubleshooter, you can utilize an existing Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1 product key you already own to reactivate if necessary. or use the reset function in Windows 10.

All you need to do is download and perform a clean install of Windows 10.

Step 1: See instructions how to download, create a bootable copy, then perform a clean install:

  3. Is caps lock on or is it possibly interchanging because of an issue with your keyboard? For instance, caps lock might not be working properly on your keyboard, when you are supposed to be entering capital letters, it is registering common letters. Use the password preview to check your password. You can also try using the on screen keyboard to log in.

See instructions how to recover your password at the following link:

Well it now seems to have some extensions such as Last Pass, Adblock Plus and it can import Favorites or Bookmarks but it still seems so limited

in what it offers you. Having removed it from taskbar I had a tough time finding it to open it.

I am still having some performance and usability issues with it. I notice when I have a set of tabs open, my laptop fan goes into overdrive. Also, the interface needs to be a bit slimmer, too chunky. Overall, it is improving especially in such a short space of time. I hope some features like Favicons, Live Thumb Nail Previews, a much saner Settings interface ala Firefox/Chrome is implemented. Easier ways to repair or reinstall the browser.

    Well... I wouldn't call it a bad habit, just a habit. ;)

Personally, I use Chrome. It has all the plugins I need and it works. Don't really need an alternative until Edge can not only match Google but also give me something new. If I worked for Microsoft fine, I would use it but I don't. I'm a customer. :)

Chrome is a resource hog, my alternative browser on this system is Firefox, works great. Chrome was great when it just launched, but it needs to slim down.

  5. That would create a chicken and egg situation. You would have to be Administrator in order to remove it.

That said, I would recommend you try performing a repair upgrade to see if it will restore the account.

Step 1, download Windows 10 ISO, mount it.

Step 2, start the installation, then choose the option to Keep your personal files, apps and settings (this should be automatically selected for you).

The repair upgrade should restore the default Admin account.

  6. Give this a try:

Enter one of the following keys depending on the edition you have installed. Make sure you enter the right product key:

    Win 10 Home: YTMG3-N6DKC-DKB77-7M9GH-8HVX7
         Win 10 Pro: VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T

Click Start > Settings > Update & security > Activation > Change the product key then enter the new product key then click Next to Activate

    Restart your computer.
