How to Download the Latest Windows 10 ISO Files Directly Using Your Web Browser

andre

Update: Microsoft is forcing users to download the ISO file using the Media Creation Tool. If you still want to download the ISO file directly, you can do so by changing the User Agent String in your web browser. This will make the browser pretend its on an operating system such as Linux or macOS, which Microsoft permits direct downloads from.

Before you upgrade, make sure you check if your system is compatible:

12 Things You Should Do Before Installing Windows 10 Creators Update (Version 1703)

Once you have your system backed up, you can download the ISOs by heading to the following URL: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Scroll down, then click in the Select edition list box.

58e52f02da38c_editionsku.png.04d7dea8443d3ec8d2d1ce11367cbe06.png

Choose the edition that currently matches your currently installed edition.

  • Windows 10 - contains both Windows 10 Home and Pro
  • Windows 10 N - contains both Windows 10 Home and Pro N - for customers in Europe (lacks Media Player).
  • Windows 10 Single Language - contains install files for Windows 10 Home Single Language

The ISO downloaded containing your corresponding edition, will detect and install the correct edition during setup.

Click Confirm

Choose your language then click Confirm again

Choose your architecture - 32 or 64 bit.

If you are not sure which edition to download and install, press Windows key + X, then click System; this will tell you which architecture is currently installed. Computers running Windows 8 or Windows 10, can double click the ISO to mount it then begin the installation. If you are running Windows 7, you will need to initialize the ISO. See how you can do that in the following article:

Review instructions how you can upgrade using the ISO:

How You Can Upgrade to Windows 10 Creators Update Right Now

There are lot more exciting features in Windows 10 Creators Update such as wider support for mixed reality gear, game mode and improvements to features like the Windows 10 Subsystem for Linux.

It seems like the URL in the link redirects incorrectly. Try going directly to https//www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Andre,:)

Why is it that I have no option to download older ISO's like 1607....only offered 1703, my current build?

I'm using a Linux system and cannot get a Windows 10 download whatever I try. I simply get 'we encountered an error processing your request' and a link to an irrelevant FAQ page!!

In desperation I installed Windows 7 first as I had a copy of that handy but, once I've gone through the rigmarole of downloading the installer I get a typical meaningless Microsoft error code 0x80190194 - 0x90018.

I'm only trying to install this OS for a friend and have NEVER encountered so many difficulties simply trying to get hold of a copy!!!

You are on Windows, using Chrome and you do not want to use the tool... You can do this by changing the user agent in your browser... Here is how?

- Go to the download page ( https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10  )

- Click F12

- Click on icon "Customize and control DevTools" (In my case it is an icon with 3 dots below eachother)

- Choose menu item "More tools"

- Choose menu item "Network conditions"

- In one of the windows you will have a new tab "Network conditions". Scroll down to "User agent"

- Uncheck "Select automatically"

- In the dropdown where "custom..." is selected. Now choose "Chrome -- Android Mobile" (or another non Windows browser)

- Press F5 to refresh your screen. You now have the possibility to download the iso.

Good luck

Thanks! Is this newer than if we were to download via Media Creation Tool or is it the same ISO?

On a gigabit connection, it only took about five minutes for me. They're providing excellent bandwidth - so, wish you'd make this more accessible MS, but thank you for the bandwidth.

What should I change the User Agent string too? I'm running Chrome, and have set it to "Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; Android 4.3; Nexus 7 Build/JSS15Q) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/63.0.3239.132 Safari/537.36" (by choosing "Chrome - Android Tablet". Microsoft still insist I download the Media Creation Tool, which then tells me I don't have sufficient space to download the update - which is why I want to download the ISO (assuming I can do that to my D drive, as I did some years back)!

^^^^^^^ This is the best answer so far for getting a hold of the update. Convoluted as heck on MS's part for making it this weird to get to, but brilliant on Guest Nobin's part for figuring it out. Thanks!

22nd of October. Tried to download. but it's giving me the October update even if it displays the old one. This is a big issue, because several devices on my laptop aren't working and that's a true pain in the *******. Only thing I can do is to acutally order and buy recovery media, because just resetting won't help, since the system is updated to the October update.

HELLO EVERYONE,

THE JOYS I HAVE TO TELL EVERYONE THAT GIVE A CRAP ANYWAY!!!

I NOTICED IN THE WORM i GOT FROM EUROPE THAT THEY HAVE GONE THROUGH THE LANGUAGE PACKS TO GET INTO EVERY SINGLE THING ON THE SYSTEM TO HACKING YOUR ROUTER AND MODEM TO YOUR PHONE AND EVEN YOUR TV. ONE OF THEM USE KODI TO GET INTO MY PHONE RIGHT AWAY. SO I AM SO BUMMED OUT RIGHT NOW BECAUSE THEY KEEP TRACKING ME EVEN IF I CHANGE MY NUMBER TO BUYING BRAND NEW EQUIPMENT. i ONLY CAN BE ON IF i AM NOT DOING ANYTHING IMPORTANT AT ALL. SO I COME ON HERE STRICTLY FOR ENTERTAINMENT NOW. I STILL HAVE ALL THE CRAP THEY HAVE OVER TAKEN CHANGING PERMISSIONS TO ALL AND IT ALL STARTED WHEN I CHANGED TO THE 2.V AND 3.V WINDOWS FREE EDITION 1600 WHICH IN-TURN ROOTED EVERYTHING i OWN. SO WHO HAS THE BEST SUGGESTIONS. i START READING ONLINE AND THEY SLOW MY COMPUTER TO A HALT AND MAKE THE GRAPHICS SO BAD ITS HARD TO READ. THE BAD PART IS i NEED TO SHUT DOWN INTERNET GET DIFFERENT CARRIER IN SOMEONE ELSE S NAME BUT THEY HAVE MY FINGER PRINT, MY IRIS, MY FACE ALL BECAUSE OF THE STUPID NOTE 9 WITH ALL THAT AWESOME SECURITY. i SCREWED MY SELF HARD CORE AND SO IS EVERYONE ELSE LINKING EVERYTHING TOGETHER NETWORKING. I THINK I WANT TO SUE . MY LIFE IS HELL I HAVE TO HAVE THE PHONE FOR THE KIDS AND WORK, i NOW HAVE TO GO TO PLACES PHYSICALLY OR USE SOMEONE ELSE S PHONE IF i LEAVE MINE AT HOME. BUT THEN i WORRY ABOUT THE DAME GOOGLE WITH VOICE RECOGNITION. THIS IS BULLSHIT. I ALSO LOOK BACK AND SEE THEY EASED INTO MY LIFE MAKING IT LOOK LIKE SMALL SOFTWARE CHANGES TO CLONING MY PHONES SINCE 2 OR THREE YEARS AGO.  ALSO I THINK WHEN SOME PEOPLE FIND OUT ABOUT THIS STUFF THEY GRAB IT UP AND USE IT BECAUSE IT IS HUGE,\. AND i MEAN HUGE.

"HELD HOSTAGE BY EVIL HACKERS WITH SOFTWARE'

ONE GOOD THING IS I THINK ILL WRITE A BOOK ABOUT IT.

***OH AND THE SOFTWARE IS AGGRESSIVE AS HELL.***

This is one reason I’m thinking of going to Linux. My windows 10 was hacked the instant I installed it making it run at 75% cpu, and rising. So I re-did everything and now my key doesn’t work. I am now stuck on Windows 7. Grrrrrrrrrr
