CD/DVD drive won't recognize program CDs Win 10

Recommended Posts

Since upgrading to Win10 64 my CD/DVD drive will recognize music discs, but not program discs.  With a program CD in the drive, the drive doesn't even start.  If I search in the drive tool bar for Program, nothing shows up.  However, I can plug an external CD/DVD drive into a USB port and the program will be recognized and run.  I've looked in the registry and there are no upper or lower limits for the drive.  I've also ensured the Area is correct in the device manager; also the device manager indicates the drive is working correctly.  I've reinstalled the driver.

Please try the following steps:
On the keyboard press Windows Key + R.
In the run box type: Regedit and click on ok.
Click on allow if prompted and the registry editor will open up.
On the left pane expand:
So essentially, you will double click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, once its expanded, double click on SYSTEM and so on and so forth till you reach {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}.
Once you have highlighted {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}, on the right pane: Delete UpperFilters, LowerFilters and NoInstallClass.
Once deleted, close the registry editor and restart the computer.
NOTE: It would be highly recommended to create a restore point before making any changes in the registry editor.
Once the computer is restarted, please try.
If issue persists, try uninstalling any 3rd party dvd burning software you may have installed. Check if issue is resolved.
If issue persists, open device manager (type device manager in search on bottom left). Expand DVD/CD drive. Right click on the device and uninstall the driver. Restart the computer and issue would be fixed.
If not, please let me know.

I have an issue with windows 10 hibernation: from start of hibernation (or sleep) process (when monitor turns off) to when the laptop turns off it takes one to two minutes (the duration is almost the same for each time). From the start of the process monitor turns off immediately and some seconds later the light of mouse turns off. But from the start, laptop fans goes to higher speeds (it should be the sign of high cpu usage maybe around 50%) and it continues to the end. Also the hard-disk is not used during this process (according to its indicator on the laptop). The same thing happens for hybrid sleep.

So the questions is: Why it takes so long? it should be some processing which interferes with hibernation, but how I could know what is that?
I tried many options, suggestions, and tools around the Internet, but didn't find the solution. The main reason is there is no produced log during this process, and I can't see anything because monitor is turned off.
Maybe I can just reinstall the windows, but I did it recently and I don't have the time to do it now, because I did many configurations and customizations for windows or other programs.
I didn't have this problem before, but the current windows installation is from a new ISO file (with higher version) and its too late to check that if it had the issue from the beginning of the windows installation or not.

So, is there any solution or a way to know what happens during this long hibernation?!

This is the craziest thing I've ever experienced with a Window machine...gave me a good laugh! Was working remotely on a new Surface and there was a Windows Activation error, so went to Settings\Updates and there was a statement that the update server could not be found and check the internet connection? Duh, I'm working remotely and the browsers are not having issues?! So I decided to do a search on error 0x80072ee7 and came up with the following non MS post:
go to control panel search "view network connections" go to view network connections choose your network( which you are currently using ) right click on it and select properties scroll down to " internet protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4) " hit properties Now choose Use the following DNS Server addresses Primary DNS Server - and Secondary DNS Server - These are the addresses of Google's DNS Servers They are free to use. Hit ok Guess what...it worked and Google did what Big Blue could not! I'm still LMFAO!!
