iPhone 14 Pro not showing up in Windows 10 when connected by USB cable.

Okay I had a problem with my mouse not working after 'Fresh Start' but that has now resolved itself and is working normally.

My problem now is that my iPhone is not showing up in Windows 10.

Before I did this Fresh Start thing which to be honest I wish I had never done as it's caused me more problems than it solved, when I connected my iPhone 14 Pro to the laptop the Photos app would open and I could select whatever photos I wanted and download them to a folder on my desktop. Now when I connect my phone it connects okay, it makes the wee noise it always made, and it starts to charge, but it doesn't open photos and it doesn't appear as a drive on my computer. The only drives that show are my C and D drives.

If I open the photos app and click on Import it says connected devices will show here but nothing appears.

The phone is obviously connected, it's charging, I've tried various cables and ports but it makes no difference.

I went into settings on my phone, General, Transfer or reset iPhone, Reset, Reset location & Privacy, entered my passcode, Reset Settings, plugged my phone back in, clicked on Trust this computer and re-entered my passcode, and it still doesn't appear!

Anyone got any ideas what is wrong here please?

Could it be a missing Apple driver, or did Windows somehow forget how to talk to the iPhone after the Fresh Start? If it's charging, the connection works, but why won’t it show up—permission issue, driver glitch or some weird Windows thing?

Sorry I should have said this problem somehow fixed itself but new problems have appeared. Now when I take photos sometimes they open okay and sometimes a message appears saying they can't be opened because the program doesn't support the format, yet they are .jpg files!

Totally get the frustration—iPhone connection issues after a reset can be a pain. Make sure iTunes is updated and check the Apple USB driver in Device Manager. I rely on smooth transfers for my edits too, so I know how important this is. Hope it gets sorted soon!

What would really help out all us Apple users would be if Apple left the damn thing alone rather than getting clever and trying to improve it! I think back to my Apple iPhone 5S, which I still have and it still works perfectly and I never had a problem with it. I connected it to my laptop and they did their magic and the next time I connected them they recognised each other and I didn't have to enter a password, I would just click on trust this computer the first time and from then on it did. Now they say its a security issue so every time I connect my iPhone 14 Pro to my laptop I have to click Trust and then I have to enter my password, every single time! It's my phone and my computer so surely it's security should be up to me and I should be able to turn this off, connect once, press trust this computer and job done. And why can't I open photos because it says the format isn't supported! Why the hell is it taking photos in unsupported formats? And then we have my folders being filled up with AAE files! What the hell are AAE files? And why do my folders contain duplicates of my photos and videos with the letter E in front of them? Did I ask for these damn things to be created and take up space, no I didn't! Iphones are a bloody expensive phone and if Apple want to continue selling them they need to hand control back to the mugs who buy them. I know I won't be buying another one until they do!
