I installed window update and have problems with my Officejet 8040 printer.

I have uninstalled printer and installed again, did all the suggested clean up.  My problem is that I can not printer in

color and the properties shows that the photo tray was not installed.  See attached photos:

Printer had no problems before update.  I need an answer please.

For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this:

- Did this happen after a software or windows update?
- Did you reset the browser and check?
- Did you try with a different browser to isolate the issue further?


Uninstall the printer from "programs and features" which can be accessed by doing a right-click on the Windows button (Please have the printer Off and disconnected during uninstallation.)

  1. Check in device manager, if the printer is listed there, please delete it. (Right-click on the Windows button to access device manager)
  2. Go to devices and printers, select any printer listed there and you will get some options on the top.
  3. Click on print server properties.
  4. You will get a popup, click on the drivers tab and delete all the HP printer drivers listed there if any.
  5. Delete all the instances of your printer listed in devices and printers.
  6. Restart the PC.
  7. Once the PC is on the desktop, press Win + R, it would bring a Run dialog box,
  8. Type %temp% in the run box and click Ok or hit the Enter button.
  9. It would bring up the temporary files folder. Delete the files in the folder (You might not be able to delete all the files).
  10. If possible, delete the printer from the registries using Regedit
  11. Ignore the Regedit option if it cannot be done.
  12. Restart the PC again.

Then download the latest full feature driver for your desired printer from the Web.

This should help solve the problem being faced.

      I have an HP Pavilion p390nr which I bought for 2 very lame reasons the touchscreen being 1 of them. Sadly since the roll out of the creators update last year my touchscreen stopped working, it still showed in the device manager however hidden it was there but after various attempts with Microsoft on the line or trying the other options of fix its others were doing the drivers flat disappeared and now when you go to Control Panel\System and Security\System it says no pen and touch available for this display. I literally have no clue which way to go on this mess oh ya and in all the "fix it's" I've lost my Microsoft account 'live' attached to my one drive that I had every photo & over 20,000 songs my kids entire 20yrs my deceased horse no joke everything backed up to GONE no way to retrieve. failed factory reset everything tried messes this laptop up more pretty soon I'm going to own very expensive & ugly paper weight???
      Please the media created a purchase is worthless as apparently this laptop has to have its BIOS adjusted to use media from cd or something stupid I don't know it's not like any of the companies come with owners manuals apparently when your laptop goes down you're expected to have another one so you can hop online and look up what to do! I'm sorry I cry and get angry every time I have to try to figure this out because I had just scanned all the photos of my deceased mother for safe keeping and was so glad I did as I live in the area of the Thomas fires she was killed when I was 4 that was 40yrs ago and now I have NOTHING of her if there is anyway to retrieve my pc and my photos please I would forever be in your debt

      I have used the Windows photos-app for a long time, for trimming my videos, but it no longer works. 
      I have tried to write and call Microsoft, but they couldn´t help at all, which was very dissapointing. 
      The guy in the phone didn´t really know anything, and asked to help me Google the problem. 
      I trim the video as i have always done, using the photos app, and click on SAve as or Save a copy, but it just saves a 0-byte size file/trim, every time. 
      So what can I do about it? 
      I am running Windows 10. 
      I really hope someone can help me. 
      Usually the videos I trim are MP¤ and the saved 0-bytes trims are always MP4. 
      Another weird thing is that the Photos app seems to be 0 bytes of size as well, when I go into see the specifications(see picture) 
      Also on one of the pictures you can see the grey bar that usually gets filled out as the trim is saved, but that never happens anymore, it stays grey.

      I read Andre Da Costa's Groovy Post article from Feb 3, 2016 on "How to Save Windows 10 Spotlight Lock Screen Pictures," and I was able to follow all the steps. However, the lock screen picture that so captivates me isn't included in the resultant list. Any suggestions about how to get it?
