  1. Been banging my head against the wall on this one. A recent update of my company's security software broke 7+TT, and while I can survive without some of its functions, disabling the taskbar application button grouping is not one of them; I have multiple windows open in all my applications and I need to be able to rearrange and reorder their taskbar icons freely. I can't seem to find an option to disable the grouping of taskbar icons, however (where it automatically places all of the separate window icons for a single process name next to each other and doesn't allow you to reorder them individually or place other taskbar icons in between them). All I can seem to find when searching for how to do this are instructions to disable combining of taskbar icons (placing all the separate windows from a particular application under a single taskbar icon, which I've already disabled of course), or people recommending 7+TT (alas...). Anyone know how to turn off this annoying behaviour without using 7+TT?

  3. Is it possible to set the fullscreen start menu as desktop. Just like Windows Phone or an Android. I like it with the shortcuts and live-tiles. Tools are welcome, but when I Google for it all I get is people want to get rid of the fullscreen version of start.

  5. It's one of those "Do not turn off the PC. This may take a while" updates. I tried to look up and see if this topic had already been discussed, but everything that comes up is about how Windows update has become stuck. Mine isn't stuck, it's just progressing incredibly slowly. I've been waiting nearly an hour and it's still only around 20% done, slowly ticking up. I need to go to sleep, but I feel weird letting my laptop open like this. I'll leave it plugged in, because I imagine it running the battery dry mid-update is probably really bad. But what happens if I just close the lid? Not shut the computer down, just bring the lid down. Is it smart enough not to send the computer into sleep? Is it safe? It's just annoying leaving it open all night because it throws a big blue glare across the whole living room. I can... tuck it away into a closet, but it feels kind of ridiculous.

Okay so in my previous post i talked about how my driver named " Realtek 8821AE Wireless LAN 802.11ac PCI-E NIC " keeps on deleting itself from time to time, well it keeps on happening again. Like every time i put my laptop in sleep mode, hibernate mode or shutting it down it suddenly gives me a code 45. its really bugging me to the point of throwing my laptop to the wall. So if anyone who knows how to fix this problem pls help me. BTW here's some info for the model of my ASUS laptop and the version of my windows 10 if this is of any help.

  11. Lately it happens that when I log in, after typing my password and before my desktop shows up, I get to see of blown out version of what I can only assume is a screenshot of an app I'm developing in Visual Studio. It doesn't happen every time and I have to yet understand why sometimes it's there and sometimes it isn't. Is there some kind of splash screen thing going on here where Windows somehow decided to take a screenshot of my app instead of a blank desktop to show while it loads?

  13. I have a new HP with Windows 10 running office 365 with Outlook/Word/Excel/Access installed. I have the outlook app on my iPhone. I am able to get and sync outlook mail but I am not able to get the outlook calendar on my desktop to sync with with outlook calendars app on my phone. I want to only use outlook for work for a small business and not mingled with my Apple calendar. I have and use Onedrive, icloud and google drive for various uses. Do I need to use one of the clouds to make this work? Thanks

  15. NOTHING works! From May at least to manage to update but i just can't. Error 0x80070002 or 0xc1900107 or some other crash without any explanation. Worst experience ever! The most resilient piece of pigshit OS in existence. English cannot come close to describe how baffled I am. There isn't any tool, service, troubleshoot ect., that would do anything. So how i can just force it to rewrite the damn registry or services or whatever causes this? I think should be system32, but im sure it won't let me delete it unless i spent like half a day writing commands in cmd to explain it that im the damn admin and i REALLY want to delete it...probably. Do i install the windows media creation tool on USB (i'll reformat it *quck unchecked in case*) then delete? (I don't have CD required size so i won't burn ISO +what if my pc didn't have ODD) Will it crash and go into repair mode? No idea what will happen... If i need to i'll even try to install linux or some other os just so that maybe after W10 will actually install properly. PLS help i can't sleep since days.

  17. I know this may sound like a dumb question, but I am going to be getting a 4K Dolby Vision TV and a Sound bar that supports Dolby Atmos and DTS X, and am not super technical (I know a little). I am wondering if I plug a Windows 10 PC into a 4K Dolby Vision TV (through an HDMI Cord) if I can watch Dolby Vision content? (I know you can watch HDR10) and if I can hear Dolby Atmos/DTS X from my sound bar? And if Windows 10 does support Dolby Atmos and DTS X, Would I need to plug another HDMI cord from my computer to the sound bar, or would the HDMI from the computer to the TV, then the TV to the sound bar work?

  21. My laptop is a HP envy m6-1205dx. Old, I know but it's been a decent laptop since I bought it brand new. However, I had to replace the top cover because the screw holes kept breaking off and the motherboard because the keyboard backlight ribbon header broke. I went ahead and replaced the HDD with a Samsung 1TB SSD while I was at it. While the hard drive switch went off without a hitch, I've noticed a few things. First, I realize that replacing the motherboard wasn't going to be a guaranteed compatibility since it was bought on eBay and wasn't guaranteed to work with the same drivers that were already installed. The Device Manager showed that the keyboard and Synaptics trackpad drivers weren't updating so I uninstalled them to see if they would automatically reinstall upon reboot. That hasn't worked at all. When I kept trying to update the HP SMBUS Trackpad driver, it acted like there was an update and would download what I assumed was an updated driver. But during install it stopped with an error saying that it couldn't find the file specified. Second, my two USB ports on the right side of the laptop and eventually the keyboard stopped working. I also tried plugging in a USB bluetooth keyboard/mouse combo and the mouse works but not the keyboard. I went to HP's website while I could use the keyboard and their auto detector found my laptop but when the page loaded the driver list, it came up as a different laptop altogether. Can't remember which one at the moment. So I'm not sure if I can actually use any of the drivers listed.

    Build is expiring! Help!!!

10 days ago I got a message saying my build will expire (I was on the slow ring) and after searching for solutions online, it would seem that switching to the fast ring should solve the problem since I would get the newest build. So I did that. 10 days later and all I get is Windows Defender Updates. No new build. My current build will expire in 4 days. Is there any way to force my PC to download the newest build? What should I do?

    Locked out of windows

I recently built a pc for my younger brother. Once I finished all really had to do was set up his accounts with games and emails. I was basically on my way out when I quickly set up a microsoft account for his computer. Later in the day he calls me because he cannot log in with the password I told him. Unfortunately, since this account was just made I didn’t set up anything for password recovery, like a backup email. I only really set up security questions and I don’t have info for the microsoft recovery. What should I do? I feel like I’ve tried everything.
