  1. Hi I have windows 10 1903 installed. My system is i3 with 8gb of DDR3 ram and primary drive is a SATA SSD while the secondary drive is HDD. Ever since I have installed 1903, I have been facing strange and absurd issues from windows. Sometimes the system process would go to 100% without any logic and I have to rush to task manager to see what is making it do so, and then kill the process. Then chrome started making issues, with software reporter tool (first of all I don't understand the logic of that tool with chrome, why to google wants to know the software installed on my computer to run the chrome which is a BROWSER), I had to search online and disable the folder of that tool to stop raising the process to 100% and keeping it there for eternity. Then just now, I was watching youtube videos, in chrome, when my system fans started running at full speed. I looked in task manager, the ram was 70% empty, processors were running at 35% and still, the whole system got sluggish that I had to force shut it down. I have come to 1903 straight from 1803, skipping 1809. I never had such issues with 1803 and I am seriously thinking to go back to 1803.
  2. Hi I am trying to upgrade my laptop from HDD to SSD and adding 4gb more ram to make it total of 8gb but there are some concerns for which I need your help. I will be putting this hard drive into optical bay using a caddy and install an SSD in place of HDD. My HDD is formatted as MBR (checked it in diskpart) and UEFI is turned OFF in BIOS. I am using "legacy" boot option. My laptop is an i3 4010U (3mb cache) and 4gb ram. I read somewhere on the internet that using GPT will enhance performance. I wanted to know: 1. If I format SSD with GPT and keep HDD on MBR, will it work fine? (HDD has data which can't be moved). 2. Do I need to turn on UEFI in BIOS or legacy boot will be able to handle the GPT SSD? 3. Upgrading to SSD and 8gb ram, will it be enough for a way better performance or the 3mb processor cache will become bottleneck while using heavy applications such as Photoshop, illustrator, premiere pro. Please help me with this as I am not much of tech-savvy person regarding these things.
  3. That's another reason for not liking windows 10 as well because sometimes the errors and problems which are created by windows 10 are totally unknown and seen first time, So no one knows what to do about it. I reverted back to windows 7 and i am now very happy that i returned back. Windows 10 is such an OS, which is like this: You turn on your computer and BE SURE that windows will create strange issues, ranging from software to hardware and first you will be forced to search it on Google, solve them and THEN try to remember for what work you turned on your computer and then you can do that work with half of enthusiasm lost because of solving the shits of windows.
  4. Hi I have windows 10 1703.15063.966 which is latest in 1703. I have set the options for update as "current branch for business" and set to defer the feature update for 365 days. I don't like 1709 at all due to many reasons and want to stay with 1703 as long as possible until 1803 comes out. I simply have a big NO for 1709. With "current branch for business" and defer feature updates to 365 days, i am still getting an annoying software installed itself. I have attached the pictures. It is windows 10 upgrade assistant which pops up every time i boot windows (and doesn't let me take screenshot) with just two buttons either to continue or to do it later. I always press do it later option. I tried uninstalling the windows 10 upgrade assistant but it gets installed again itself. I want some solution for this. When there is option to set current branch for business and defer feature updates for 365 days, then why i am being pinched for updating to 1709. I am too much annoyed with it and thinking that i seriously go back to windows 7. Windows 10 is a free pain.
  5. No, they were a separate query and this new thread is a new thing. Previous one was more related to underlines but this one is more for icon spacing.
  6. Hi I need some help regarding windows 10 1709. I don't know if people noticed this or not or they are happy whatever lousy changes Microsoft does to windows and people accept it as Bible. 1709 did some utterly absurd changes which had no reason and logic and gave a horrible appearance but i never heard people complaining about it. I wanted to know if there is any way to solve them? 1. (I use mostly tile view in my computer, explorer and drives and as well as in partitions showing my data). There is a gap on left end side of icon. Before that the icon used to be at the left border of selection area but now it is somewhat centralized. This results in text viewing problem. The text which was completely readable for files in tile view, is now cut off from the end because the icon and the text has been moved more to right side than before. Is there any way to move the icons to their default position as before? (i have attached snapshot to make you understand this. The yellow rectangle is the main part and blue rectangle is the problem which i am asking). 2. The action center quick toggles has now a thick border which previously had a border of max 1-2px but now it is quite thick and it looks hideous. Windows 10 was all with thin borders and i thought windows have come a long way from being bordered to become border-less. Can this border be removed? (screenshot attached. The yellow rectangle is the main part and blue rectangle is the problem which i am asking).
  7. Hi I don't know what is this issue. Everything else updates just fine from windows update and is working fine but only the windows defender updates are not working. It downloads, then installs but the install doesn't complete and it shows an error. I have attached the screenshot with this. I tried searching online for the error code but all they say is, to troubleshoot with windows and i tried them but it doesn't resolve the issue. I am using windows 10 1709.16299.98
  8. Hi I wanted to discuss something because lately i have been moving around between different OS. I had installed windows 10 (1703) and then when 1709 came out, windows started updating with feature updates. When it installed, i was severely disappointed because of such idiotic appearance changes. I couldn't stand with the newer interface which looked to me as someone was busy doing other things that he forgot the interface glitches. Anyhow that's my point of view about 1709, people might be liking it. I am now on 1703. I will probably stay on 1703 until i see 1803 because i cannot bear the interface of 1709. Microsoft has seriously puked on the interface. (if someone wants to know, i can write a post for the glitches and changes of interface which i found horrible). I wanted to know something. There are huge list of forums, threads and blogs all yelling that windows 10 is dealing with latest security things and the older systems are more vulnerable to hacks and attacks. I was wondering on it and thinking. What exactly is the security threat to a user?. Suppose i am also using windows 7, and i want to stick with it. The only connection of it with outside world is the internet connection. Other than that, i have installed few software that i use and i have downloaded from their official site so i know the setup is virus/trojan/malware free. I don't install software other than few of them which i use. Rest is the internet part. I use Mozilla Firefox. Browsers are constantly being updated and they have recently released the Firefox Quantum. I have it. I am using windows defender as the security. So, where exactly is the threat that Microsoft is treating windows with? I am sorry if i sound dumb for asking this. This post is in no way a trolling post or for fun. I seriously wanted to know what is the thing.
  9. Hi I tried to upgrade my windows 10 from 1703.15063.674 to 1709.16299.19 through clean install. I ran into horrible horrible horrible scenarios. The FCU (fall creators update) has huge list of glitches everywhere in it and it was so annoying for me to keep using windows without running into issues. I had to search each and every query on forums and Google to see it's solution. It should be a matter of shame for Microsoft releasing such feature updates without any quality checks. I am going to raise a compiled list of issues in 1709 on "feedback hub" shortly. I am now back on v1703. It's much stable and use-able. I have set the "feature updates" to defer for 180 days and quality updates with no deference. They shall be updated as normal. Now i want to ask something. I read somewhere on forums or threads (while being on 1709) that Microsoft has removed the "current branch" from updates and users are going to get "Forced" to feature updates, no matter how much we set it to defer. Is it true? And please guide me how to stay on 1703 for at least 4-5 months until 1709 gets addressed properly. Shall i stop updates as according to this link. I know i will be advised not to stop updates and i myself don't want to. But installing the horrible feature updates is something which i can't do. I don't want to spend hours and hours solving each and every issue with 1709 and then waiting that Microsoft gets them noticed and remove them in next upgrade. To be honest, you also know that Microsoft is not giving a dam on any feedback and some of VERY BASIC issues are still unresolved while they are busy CREATING new issues. I am happy with 1703.
  10. Instead of that, you could simply download the ISO and do a clean install. To be honest, Microsoft is themselves not sure what they want to do. I had a horrible experience with windows 10 v1709 and reverted back to 1703.
  11. Hi I found the reason to this. There is an option to highlight the links in windows 10 settings. I have attached the screenshot. Before that option was on and windows was showing me that aforementioned box but now after turning this off, it is not there anymore.
  12. Hi Let me explain a bit more in details. First of all i don't have touch screen, its a laptop with Core i3, 4gb ram and i made sure before installing the windows 10 that everything is updated. I have all latest drives for graphics and others installed, along with latest java and flash and all the software installed are also being used in latest versions. So, there is nothing obsolete being used. This thing for which i wrote, is from the very first day so i am sure this is some sort of feature of windows and not due to some other installed program. I have certain things in mind which might be causing it. I am not sure, i am just sharing my thoughts: 1. It might be touch pad, which is reading the default touch area. 2. It might be due to narrator, but i have tried turning it on and then off (by default it was off). 3. Some software which might be reading windows fonts or even touch-perspective area that this is the point to click. If it is some windows feature, then apart from narrator, what else it could be? Which software might be reading text. I hope someone can point me out on this.
  13. I have tried turning on the narrator and then turning it off again, but it doesn't work. Those boxes around texts doesn't go off. And also i don't have touch enabled screen. If i had touch enabled screen, this would be very understandable that it is giving me touch areas which windows recognizes as font, but no i don't have touch screen. This thing is really strange for me and i don't know which feature is using it and how to turn it off. It is from day first of windows 10 installation.
  14. HI I wanted to know the solution to something strange. There is a selection area over almost all windows panels. I have attached the screenshots with this thread. I see it whenever i click on the relevant icons on taskbar and there is always this white rectangular selection area, basically what the narrator is supposed to read. But i haven't turned on the narrator at all and it is "OFF" in settings panel. Then why there is this selection area around the texts?
  15. Hi I recently encountered this strange issue. Windows 10 had been working fine till now, even it is still working fine but this little glitch is making me mad. I recently installed Google earth and after that this happened. The screenshots are attached here in the thread. I tried resetting the theme in "Personalize" section to default but even then it didn't make the grey shadow under text, go off. Just to mention, that my windows is on latest build (1703.15063.540) and all the plugins like Java, Flash are up to date. There is no theme installed (via uxtheme patch) and every setting is on default, except some windows settings tweaks that i made. I am unable to understand as to what caused this problem and how to get rid of it. I will be really thankful to you for helping me out of this. Although it is not such a big problem, but i want to remove it.
